Account-Wide Settings for Google Calendars

When you authenticate a Google Account in DayBack, it will automatically load all the calendars associated with that account, including any calendars shared with it. Refer to general information on Google Calendars for more details.

DayBack provides both account-wide and calendar-specific settings for your Google Calendars. Here’s how they work:

Account-Wide Settings

To access account-wide settings for your Google Account, simply click on the email address associated with the account.

Account-wide settings let you configure defaults that apply to all calendars linked to the account:

  • Field Mapping: Specify how you want all Google Events associated with this account to be displayed, regardless of the specific calendar.
  • Custom Fields: Add custom fields that will be available for use across all Google Calendars associated with the account.
  • Actions & Buttons: Add buttons and event actions that will apply to all Google Calendars within the account.

Calendar-Specific Settings

Calendar-specific settings can be accessed by clicking on the name of a specific Google Calendar.

These settings allow you to override or extend the account-wide settings as follows:

  • Field Mapping: You can override how events are displayed for a specific calendar.
  • Custom Fields: You can add custom fields that are available only within a specific calendar. These fields will be available in addition to those available through account-wide settings.
  • Actions & Buttons: You can add additional buttons and event actions that apply only to this specific calendar.

Special Considerations

Calendar-specific Fields with the Same Name as Account-wide Fields

If you create a calendar-specific custom field with the same name as an account-wide field, it will be tracked independently for the specific calendar.

For instance, if you have an account-wide field called "Project Name," this field will be inherited by all calendars. When moving an event from one Google Calendar to another within the same account, the original "Project Name" will be retained. However, if you create a separate "Project Name" custom field for a specific calendar, this new field will store project names independently, only for events in that particular calendar.

Order of Event Actions: Calendar-Specific Actions Follow Account-Wide Actions

Calendar-specific actions do not override account-wide actions. Instead, account-wide event actions will execute first, followed by any calendar-specific actions.

By combining account-wide and calendar-specific settings, you can optimize the display and behavior of all your calendars while allowing for customization that is relevant to specific calendars.
