Enabling Maps
The new map and routing features in DayBack are currently in preview.
If you'd like these features enabled for preview in your DayBack, please get in touch. (Maps, routing, and drive times require DayBack's Plus plan.)
Once we've activated the map preview in your DayBack, navigate to DayBack's admin settings and then click on the Views section. Scroll down and you'll see a few settings for maps and routing.
Map & Routing Settings
1. Enable Map
- When set to "Yes," the map will appear in DayBack’s right-hand sidebar (the "side view tab").
- This is the same area where you may have enabled Unscheduled Items.
- You do not need to enable the map if you only want to calculate distances without displaying them on a map.
- However, you must enter an API key (see below) to use any map-related features.
2. Map API Key
- Enter your Google Maps API key here.
- This key is required for maps, routing, distance calculations, and drive time features.
- Learn more about creating an API key and potential costs: Creating a Maps API Key.
3. Default Side View Tab
- If both Maps and Unscheduled Items are enabled, this setting determines which tab is active by default for new users.
- Once a user starts using DayBack, it remembers their last active tab and restores it when they return. (This memory is specific to each user and device.)
4. Default Sidebar View Open
- Controls whether the right-hand sidebar is open or closed by default for new users.
- Like the side view tab, this setting is remembered per user and device.
- Unlike the left-hand sidebar, the right-hand sidebar cannot be locked open.
- If both "Enable Unscheduled" and "Enable Map" are set to "No," the right-hand sidebar is disabled (locked shut).
Note. DayBack's maps can be bookmarked, but they are not available in public bookmarks. Consider using DayBack's Salesforce Connect if you need to share a map more widely.
DayBack's maps works great in Salesforce mobile as well!
